Being the youngest child in a family of known TV personalities and/or Persons of Repute, Wyatt was always living in a spotlight he didn't want. His brother and sister both, though they loved him in their own special way, were right terrors who never learned the concept of 'no'. They got all up in his business at home and outside, everybody who ever knew of the Winslows got all up in his business attempting to get Wyatt to regale the famous stories of Richard and Cheryl Winslow. Naturally, Wyatt became a huge fan of hiding places where no one would ever find him. This included: getting away from the house and being in the outdoors as much as possible, being supremely camera-shy and a low-key fear about small, confined spaces as well as people getting in his space or touching him excessively.

Wyatt was a loner of necessity at the beginning. He often sought quiet places because it was the only time he could actually hear himself think. His parents had opinions about everything from politics to sports to which celebrity should not be dating which. But his time in the wizarding GB community where nobody really knows or cares about the Winslow family has helped him realise that he can have opinions about things and that people may actually want to hear those opinions. It's improved his confidence all around. Being in a year-round camping school also encouraged Wyatt's love for the outdoors. He loved that GB emphasised outdoor activities and he loved that he could spent hours and hours roaming the school grounds and discovering new things at every turn.

To his friends now at GB he is warm and friendly, he's been trying out jokes as well. It's a thing. He's still not quite that trusting of strangers, but that's probably a habit he's never going to break. He's happy in school and doing well as a result. His teachers are fond of him with the only exception being Ms Thrussell whom Wyatt feels may actually hate him (she doesn't, Wyatt just boggles her) because he can't play pieces that mix B flat minor with A major or he just can't write down that melody in his head. After a particularly trying music lesson (he takes these lessons hard, frankly), Wyatt often escapes to the outdoors for a good many hours, possibly swimming in the lake or hiking in the woods just around Ebonhide.

Richard and Cheryl met while working on a project together. At the time, Richard was producing a music-related variety show and Cheryl was guest-starring on the series as she had been a musician of some repute. The variety show, unfortunately, did not get renewed for a new season. But the two kept seeing each other, fell in love, got married and had kids. Not necessarily in that order. They were both crazy about each other but a wedding had never been on the cards. So when Cheryl found out that she was pregnant with Bridget, it was a bit of a rude surprise. Richard brought up the suggestion of marriage, but Cheryl was vehemently against it then. She didn't want to Richard to feel tied down by an unborn child. They decided to live in sin together.

They gave it a good attempt too. For the first three years they were unmarried but disgustingly in love and happy. It didn't take long for them to get their second child. But by the time Rocky was born, the problems started to accumulate. First was the ever present and constant pressure by both families to get married. Second was the fact that Cheryl's music career had been on the downhill slide since she got pregnant. By the time Rocky was one, Cheryl had proposed living apart. The couple spent the next four years apart. The two children were shuffled back and forth between their parents and grandparents occasionally. Both parents were focused on their career and such workaholics they barely had time for their young children. As a result, they absolutely spoiled Bridget and Rocky, giving their kids everything and anything they demanded.

Cheryl's career in music didn't manage to improve, however. She had been away from the industry too long. And when she went back to it, she found herself missing her children too much to really have much heart in it. And though she denied it, she missed Richard too. But pride and utter stubbornness had her refusing to give up, believing she could return to the days of her former glory. It wasn't until a little after Rocky's fourth birthday that she caved and went to see Richard again. Later, when she was lying in Richard's arms, Richard suggested that perhaps it was time to look at other options.

Through a friend's recommendation, Cheryl got a job as a music teacher at the local wizarding school. To her surprise, she absolutely enjoyed her new job. It also left her with ample time enough for her family. Her relationship with Richard improved again. And this time, when they fell madly in love (again), they did properly with an actual wedding and all. Although of course, she had still been pregnant with Wyatt when she walked down the aisle. But nobody needed to know that.

Growing up, Wyatt had been regaled with the stories of his parents' wild youth enough times to be entirely horrified by it. Bridget and Rocky had grown up with the knowledge that they could get away with almost anything from their parents' combined guilt at somewhat failed parenting and continued to be right terrors. The result was a third child that was mildly oppressed and who never really voiced his opinions in a house full of loud characters. Bridget and Rocky were both distinct personalities at school and popular because of their famous parents. Wyatt on the other hand, spent a large amount of time avoiding people as much as possible. This manifested in a love for the outdoors and nature rather than staying indoors at home with his loving but frankly crazy family.

Having picked up all manner of instruments from a young age from his mom, Wyatt was naturally gifted in music. By the time he was nine, he had exhausted the classics and was moving on to every other genre of music possible. At ten, he began to realise that when he got immersed in music, strange things happened. Sometimes, out of nowhere, sparks would appear in the room. Other times, he swore his mother's potted plants bloomed in an hour when they should have taken days. Cheryl had already realised by then that her two sons were like her and able to do magic. She never kept her magic a secret from Richard, and the whole family was supportive of the boys learning as much as they could growing up. Wyatt ended up going to the Mixed Magical Academy like his older brother. But his gift seemed linked with his magic and Cheryl was secretly delighted. Of all her children, only Wyatt had picked up all of her talent in music and none of the attitude. To encourage this, she enrolled him in all the music classes available at MMA and then some even outside of school.

School was when Wyatt's personality solidified into the sensitive loner. While Wyatt was never quite bullied in school, he also did not have many friends. Strangely, the littlest Winslow never seemed to mind. Instead, he seemed happiest when left on his own with his guitar. The only exception was when he met Bash. The kid was permanently joined at the hip with his twin sister whom Wyatt frankly avoided at first glance because he knew a loud personality when he saw one. But Bash and Wyatt got along well for two people who didn't seem to fit into mainstream anything and Ariel probably adopted Wyatt as a default. So when Bash got that scholarship letter for Gooseberry, Wyatt was actually genuinely happy to receive one as well. He wasn't afraid of having to be alone in a new environment, but the idea of leaving their two crazy families behind to go somewhere else where it could be quiet for once was frankly appealing and he could not lie.

His time at Gooseberry has been beneficial for Wyatt thus far. It's allowed him to focus on his music away from his mother's frankly domineering music style and it's also given him space enough to explore his own opinions and his own interests without his family to butt in with their two cents on everything. Wyatt's made a couple of friends here and he's also coming into himself, smiling more, engaging in conversations more with people who aren't actually biologically related to him.
